Our Nature Principles:

The Nature Agency advances the following Principles on behalf of and in tandem with our partners:

    1. All life, resources, and activity on the Planet are part of a single finite, complex, and deeply inter-reliant system: Nature.
    2. A healthy living Nature is essential to all human success and economic activity.
    3. Human action can restore a Nature exhausted by human activity.
    4. Public awareness, education, and engagement are critical to the protection, promotion, and regeneration of Nature.
    5. Responsible leaders and organizations have ethical and pragmatic imperatives to advance the protection and restoration of Nature, and to do this with the urgency She deserves.
Team

Who we are

We are disaffected marketers, creatives, storytellers, knowledge keepers, and data geeks who have worked with A-list clients and organizations but believe marketing has a purpose beyond selling more stuff the world doesn’t need. Besides, how can we sell more stuff in a world that can’t produce more stuff? We have spent our entire careers in marketing, media, storytelling, not-for-profits, and business, and see the tension between human consumption and the natural world. We believe we need to do better, to do different, and use our skills for the ultimate cause, Nature. Collectively, we have worked in sustainability (real sustainability, not greenwashing), culture, social justice, media, and entrepreneurship. We aim to make a difference through our actions and not just our words. Fundamentally, we know the welfare of Nature now depends on humanity, on us.

The Nature Agency is a purpose-driven, Canadian not-for-profit, social enterprise (1483590-5). With a transparent governance structure and financial model. We conduct ourselves with openness, integrity, and humility.

In 2013, Gus Speth said, “I used to think the top global environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that with 30 years of good science we could address these problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a spiritual and cultural transformation, and we scientists don’t know how to do that.” At the Nature Agency, we do.
